The Connect: The couple met through mutual friends enjoying a night out in San Diego. After spending the next few weeks together with their friends, the two of them became best friends quickly.
The Proposal: In Santa Barbara on a weekend trip, Matt hurried Lacey back in time to catch the sunset on the porch together with a bottle of champagne and heart-felt toasts to each other. Matt’s toast ended him down on one knee with the proposal to Lacey, she said “yes”.
The Celebration: They both wanted their wedding to have a feeling of Autumn, so they incorporated golds, browns and greens along with low lighting and an abundance of candles. They chose a menu of hearty warm foods and a spice cake to also bring in the seasonal feel. They chose to bring in their heritage with an Irish Blessing for Lacey at the ceremony and for Matt’s Dutch heritage, they named the tables after different Netherland cities with the corresponding coat of arms. The special touches not only were helpful in decorating but truly brought a piece of each of them into their special day.
Lacey’s Advice:
“Take a few minutes on your wedding day, just you and your groom, to soak in the beautiful day. Even if it is just a few minutes, you have worked hard on planning this day and it is over before you know it.”
