The Connect: They met in the Washington D.C./ Virginia area while attending the same church congregation Monday night singles get together. They went on their first date a week later and became inseparable soon after.
The Proposal: They spent several months getting to know each other when
Russel decided that he wanted to marry her and that he needed to meet her parents and siblings since family is very important to them both. He decided to join Lauren’s family for New Year’s festivities in Barcelona, Spain, where they were living during their courtship. She had no idea, that he was ready, when he proposed to her overlooking one of the piers of the beautiful Mediterranean Sea. Lauren was totally shocked but excitedly said “Yes”.
The Celebration: They chose to have a destination wedding in San Diego, a city they both loved and where all those attending could enjoy. They started with a small intimate ceremony at San Diego LDS Temple. Then chose the Inn at Rancho
Santa Fe’s large front lawn for the reception accented with a large yellow and cream tent for their 375 guests, many traveling from all over the globe, to attend. Both
being art lovers, they were sure to include their passion for art into a garden theme with spring greens, yellows, dragonflies and butterflies. Fun fresh flowers and favors along with charming accents made their wedding memorable for all.
Lauren’s Advice: “Try to relax and truly enjoy your day. Cherish the fact that the people that truly mean the most to you are there to share in your wedding.”
